Our pork is raised on a select few farms that are either fully free range or fall under the Pork360 higher welfare programme. With the ongoing issues around biosecurity with pigs in Gauteng in particular, we are careful about where our pork comes as our foremost considerations are both our customers as well as the animals’ health.

What is lard? Remember how our grandparents used to keep the fat when they made a roast? They called it “dripping” or “lard” and then would use this to fry up potatoes, eggs, spread on fresh homemade bread instead of butter, etc?  That is lard. This is perfect for baking a short crust pastry too – especially for traditional pork pies.

Minced fat is a wonderful treat for birds in your garden.
